Hyaluronic Acid and what it can do for your skin!

Posted on 07/13/2017 by Pam Wheeler

You've probably heard of Hyaluronic acid in skincare products, or possibly from your esthetician when you have received a facial, but you may not know much about it. Hyaluronic acid is enjoying a new "buzz" in the skincare industry, and rightly so.  The benefits of HA (Hyaluronic acid) are remarkable, and it is now featured as a key ingredient in many skincare serums, creams, injectibles and supplements.

What is Hyaluronic acid?  HA is a naturally occurring substance in our bodies that helps hydrate the skin.  It is one of the primary components to the extracellular matrix, the tissue that provides structural support to the cells (and therefore to the skin).

Hyaluronic acid attracts and binds moisture to the skin, plumps skin and acts as an inflammatory agent. HA can even help restore the aging dermis (true skin, under the epidermis).

“Youthful skin retains its turgor, resilience and pliability, among other traits, due in large part to its high water content. Over time, loss of moisture occurs as part of the normal process of aging, in addition to daily external injury. HA is a key molecule involved in skin moisture due to its unique capacity in retaining water,” according to skin expert Michael Pugliese in his recent article on Hyaluronic acid.He goes on to say, “In fact, HA is capable of holding up to 1,000 times its molecular weight in water, penetrating the skin and binding skin cells to water, infusing all layers of the skin with moisture.”

Almost everyone can benefit from more hydration to the skin.  I highly recommend that you consider incorporating HA into your daily skincare regimen!  Charisma Skin's best-selling Hydra gel is an excellent source, as it contains a high concentration of Hyaluronic acid to help deliver deep hydration into the skin. Hydra gel may also be "cocktailed" (mixed together and applied to skin as one skincare step), with Botanical Bio-Peptide Concentrate, or other serums to help deliver powerful anti-aging Peptides and other nutrients into the skin.  Satisfy your skin’s thirst and begin to deeply hydrate today!
